DAY 20 – 31/05 – CRUISE BACK TO ORLANDO

Today we sunbathed in the kiddies pool all day! It was so flippin hot!

DINNERS ON THE CRUISE
During the night we went to have a nice dinner yet again with always great entertainment from the waiters.

Then quickly set off to catch the 80s cabaret show which surprisingly was really good. Then again had a bit of a late night!

Excellent Cruise!!

DAY 19 – 30/05 – NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS

So we woke up and our cruise ship was approaching Nassau, the Bahamas! Breakfast was the best breakfast we had since being in america! …well the food in general was the best we’ve had in USA!

We then disembarked the ship and spent half the day on the beach of Bahamas. Got a tan…maybe a tad burnt too.

We tasted local food and actual pinacalada drinks made from the locals themselves with their own Barcadi.

Once back on the cruise ship we (Rangi, Te Rina & Cherish) fine dined ordering wine bottles (as it was much cheaper) and then watched a random cabaret show, then watched an amateur magician before we hit the beach party on the top deck, kareoke and last but not least the Kaleidiscope club!! We met a few young black americans (tall bballers) who taught us some dance moves and lingo.

DAY 18 – 29/05 – ORLANDO CRUISE TO BAHAMAS

The drive from our resort (Disneyworld) to Port Canaveral took an hour by shuttle.

CARBINIVAL SENSATION
Boy oh boy… once on board Carnival Sensation, we were amazed! Best idea ever to do a cruise. Everything is on board i.e. all you can eat, bars, Spa’s, clubs, casinos, pools, waterslides and many more. What makes it even better as they have set activities for each day and all you need to do is decide what you would like to do!

The food is fantastic, you can either choose from casual dining to fine dining!!

Caroline and Moana never saw the rest of us for the day but that was ok because that was us at the bars on the top deck! Having pinacalada’s and our favourite drink was Miami Vice!

(Video from Ranger)

We finished our night with kareoke and a bit of dancing at the clubs! Here we saw the woman do nothing but one move! Guess!!!  ….yes twerking!

Always blown away at that, definitely a talent, but I suppose if it’s the only move they do, it gets a tad old after a while to be honest. Lol.
However, all of us girls secretly wanted to know how to do it!

DAY 17 – 28/05 – ORLANDO

UNIVERSAL STUDIOS FLORIDA
2nd day for the Kowhai’s at Universal Studios, but now at the Universal Studios Florida Park!

Highlight of the day meeting the Transformers!! Bumble bee, Optimus Prime & Megatron! The 3D Motion Ride was the best, in comparison to Spiderman & Harry Potter, but it would be because it just opened this month! (Oh how lucky we are!). The rides weren’t as good as Islands of Adventure Park, but we still enjoyed our day! However if we had a 3rd day we definitely go to Islands of Adventure Park again.

DAY 13 – 24/05 – NEW ORLEANS

FRENCH QUATER/JACKSON SQUARE
To get down to Jackson Square from our Airbnb accomodation down Henriette Place, only took a 15minute walk.
And wow!! It seems like we are in another country!

PhotoGrid_1402446204536

The buildings are French  renaissance styled and so wonderful to look at. You can definitely see that this city has it’s own unique culture. Very funky and nice boutique stores, ranging from wooden toys, wigs, to ornaments. At the French Quarter, there was mini markets and it was all packed with tourists and a lot of artists had their work displayed for buying.

PhotoGrid_1402446480628
We walked along the riverside to get to Canal St Mall where we watched the latest X-men movie ‘Days of Future Past’

We saw every iconic Washington DC building in the movie! (Yeh buddy)

BOURBON ST
For dinner we ate at Hard Rock Cafe on Bourbon St. We then stayed on Bourbon St to experience the nightlife, watching Jazz Bands, kareoke New Orleans style and of course the thousands of people (mostly intoxicated having great fun) walking/dancing along Bourbon St. The nightlife is definitely a night to experience and a must, it is like your at a mini Mardi Gras festival.

DAY 12 – 23/04 – MEMPHIS TO NEW ORLEANS

We paid our last respects to ELVIS.
Te Rina held up her photo of her namesake Nanny Lena, who was in Paradise Hawaiin Style!!  performing Kapa Haka, twirling her poi and even gave the KING a hongi!!

DAY 11 – 22/05 – MEMPHIS

GRACELAND
Holy moly we’re at Graceland and staying at the Heartbreak hotel. Very surreal moment right here!!! Its all here in Graceland, everything to do with the KING of ROCK N ROLL! his mansion, exhibitions, planes, family videos & momentos etc. We so loved it!! We had & will always have real appreciation for his the KING of Rock n Roll & music! Shot parents for making us to Rock n Roll when we were kids to tweens!!

MEMPHIS RIVERBOATS
If you want to see the Mississippi River, doing the Riverboat in Memphis is a great opportunity to do so. Our theme music for our journey on Mississippi, was nothing else but Tina Turner’s song!!

The lyrics in this song was pretty much similar stories that the tour guide gave us.

PhotoGrid_1402286451528

Another story the Tour guide shared was the Mississippi river, flooding the banks of Arkansas. ‘You know folk, da water make deeeem soil soooo furrrtile, dat da plants grooow reeeal gooood, da ones dat da Po-leeece don’t lyyyyke’.

BEALE ST, BB KING BLUES BAR
To top the night off, Rangi, Te Rina and Cherish went to Beale St – where BLUES was born!! While walking along this street, live bands projected from out of the bars playing nothing but BLUES. We made it to the one and only BB KING’s BLUES BAR.

The live bands here were amazing, check it out!

Side Note with Cherish!:
As I’m rocking out on the D-floor to some MEAN blues music, an American takes my hand and attempts to dance with me. Hika! He did the caterpillar on the floor, raised his hands up and started shaking them in the air like he was praising something (I dont know what?)…then to top it off, he turned around and twerked for me. Funi as!
